Classical Race. Registration begins at 10 AM with a race start at 11 AM. Registration also includes a lunch. Bring the kids for a fun obstacle course too! 1.30.09 - CONGRATULATIONS TO GRACE BOUTOT OF FORT KENT! SILVER MEDALIST AT THE YOUTH/JUNIOR BIATHLON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! 1.29.09 - Volunteers are needed for the Nor Am Competition at NHSC, Feb.19-22. Please see the Events Update Tab for more info. 01.25.09 - Fort Kent Voyageur Loppet scheduled for today has been postponed due to below 0 temperatures. The new date is set for next Sunday, Feb. 1. 01.09.09 - Thank you to all who made this year's New Year's Race a great success! Check out the results using the "Race Results" tab at left. 01.01.2009 - Happy New Year Everyone! The Northern Skiers and Cary Medical Center New Year's Race is coming up! Sunday, Jan. 4, is a day packed with fun for everyone. Event registration is $5 and opens at 12:00pm. The 5k Freestyle Race, with awards presented to top finishers of each age group, will start at 1:00pm. Coinciding with the race is a new Touring Division with participation prizes. At 2:00pm, the Ski/Snowshoee Scavenger Hunt begins. This is not a race and there is no fee for this event. Race awards and Scavenger Hunt drawings will be handed out at 3pm. A mini terrain park will be open all day with the famous radar run to test your speed! Free ski rentals will be available on a first come, first served basis. Hot lunch and refreshments will be available. See you there! 12.23.08 - The Aroostook Cup Season is upon us. The first race is Dec.28th at 10th Mt., with the New Year's Race scheduled for Jan. 4th. See the Events Update tab at left for more details. 12.22.08 - Dave Chamberlain had double wins this weekend in Stowe, Vt., and Beth-Ann had a biathlon win on Sunday in Coleraine, MN. What a team! Ages 8-12 meet every Tuesday from 3-5pm at Caribou High School Ski Center. Biking, Hiking, Rollerskiing, Games, Fun! Program will meet from Oct.14 to Dec.9. Rides are available from Teague Park. Call MWSC at 492-1444 for ride info. Contact MWSC Program Director, Mark Shea at 227-7465 for more information. Come join the fun! 7-01-08 - MWSC is offering a Youth Adventure Programs County-Wide. Here in Caribou, ME - Aroostook County youth aged 8 to 14 are invited to join Maine Winter Sports Center staff for outdoor-based skills and fitness sessions with a focus on fun every Wednesday morning. 9am to 10:30am. Programs will be offered in Houlton, Presque Isle, Caribou, Madawaska, and Fort Kent, and will feature activities such as mountain biking, trail running, outdoor games, roller skiing, orienteering and more. Ski equipment will be provided. Just bring running shoes, water bottle and a friend. Each location will host a six week program beginning the first week of July. There is no fee to participate. It was a great day of fun on skis! 3.12.08 - The annual Aroostook Youth Ski Festival is scheduled for this Saturday, March 15th, at the Caribou High School Ski Center. Sponsored by Northern Skiers Club, Cary Medical Center, and MWSC, it's a day to come out and see how much fun kids can have on skis! Check out the website at: www.youthskifest.org. Hope to see you there! 2.15.08 - Family Fun Day has been cancelled due to predicted cold temperatures. There is no "rain-date." Also, the Saturday Ski Program is cancelled for this Saturday only. Stay warm, everyone! 2.11.08 - Family Fun Day, hosted by NSC and Caribou Rec. Dept., will be held this Saturday, Feb. 16th, 10am-12pm at the Caribou High School Ski Trails. Snowshoeing, Ski Tours, Sliding, Skibobs, Ski Games, Obstacle Course, and a hot dog roast will provide something for everyone in the family. Come out and join the fun! 1.17.08 - Adult Ski Nights on Wednesday nights, 5:30-6:30 offered by MWSC. This is for ANY level skier, classic or skate technique, young to "younger every year" adults. Instruction to be held at Caribou High School ski trails. 1.07.08 - The Saturday Ski Program will be changing the Nordic ski time to 11:00-12:30am starting this Saturday, Jan. 12th. See you there! 1.06.08 - The Cary/Northern Skiers New Year's Race was a success! Results can be found at mainewsc.org or by clicking on the "MWSC" link at the top. Thank you to all who participated and volunteered their time. 1.04.08 - The Saturday Ski Program is back into full swing this weekend. Nordic ski times are from 10am-11:30am and the Alpine hill will be open 2pm-4pm. This program will be running at these times every Saturday and is open to skiers of all ages and abilities. Parents that have toddlers on skies and need adult assistance should plan on staying with their children. Thank you for your cooperation. Come and join the fun! 1.4.08 - Plan on attending the New Year's Race hosted by Cary Medical Center and Northern Skiers Club this Sunday, January 6th. Kids terrain park, youth races, and adult freestyle races are just a few of the features of this year's event. Come and support your club! Also, Check out the "Aroostook Cup" tab for races and results from around the County. 12.14.07 - The TAMC/TD BankNorth Eastern Cup Races are this weekend at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle. Races on Saturday begin at 11am and 2pm, and there are races for all on Sunday. Please visit NHSC's website at nordicheritagecenter.org for more information. 12.12.07 - We are back in business! Check out the Trail Update tab at left for our current trail conditions. 12.12.07 - We expect to have the big groomer back in operation as of today and will be grooming trails this evening. The snow keeps coming! 12.04.07 - Please be sure to check our Trail Update tab at left for information regarding current trail conditions. Groomers are trying to keep up with the snow we've been having, however, they are without the big groomer at present and are doing the best job they can with the small one. Keep checking back for any updates on this. Also, the issue regarding the lights is in the process of being resolved. Thank you for your patience. 12.02.07 - Snow! Snow! Snow! What a great way to start the month of December! All the trails are groomed for both skate and classic and more snow is in the forcast.
